Flying Field Information

We fly at the Poplar Creek Model Airplane field on Shoe Factory Road in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. Current AMA membership or a permit from the forest preserve district is required to fly at this field. The field is open from sunrise to sunset. Spectators are always welcome.

Grass cutting is done every Wednesday afternoon. When necessary, the time or day may be changed. Flying is strictly prohibited during any field maintenance.

During the regular flying season, Monday and Wednesday from 4:00 to sunset have been designated as beginner's time. This is the time that instructors try to make themselves available. This is not the only time you can can receive instruction, but it is the best time.
